Pick Up Golf
Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time
perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for
golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a
terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable
and refined swing will make you highly successful.

Just keep on practicing. just go in your yard and just keep on swinging the club and just keep trying to do good swings |

Golf may look like a physical game but it is actually more of a mental game. I say being patience and emotional control is secret to playing good golf. |

The key to golf in consistency. You need to groove a swing you can repeat time after time. There is always a lot of talk about HOW you swing, but as long as you club face is square at impact, and you can repeat the swing consistently, you can play better. Look at players like Arnie, Furyk, Jim Thorpe, etc as examples. The other secret to golf is to remember to have fun. |

Practice, Practice, Practice. Took me a while to realize that it actually helps but it does and it may take a lot of it, but hey it works for Tiger and all the guys on PGA Tour. If you want to, take lessons too. Those help a lot but you still have to practice :) |

Hit the driving range.. you cant play the game unless you can hit the ball. practicing on the course will make you hate the game. when you learn what club to hit.. how far it will go,, your always going to hit one in the woods or the water..its just how many you hit when your playing. when you can hit the ball a little more consistant.. you will learn to love the game |

Take some lessons and then practice what they teach you at the driving range. |

PRACTICE will not help a bad swing, all this will do is ingrain bad habits in youre muscle memory.you have to know the proper way to do something if you are going to practice it. if you are serious, find a good pga pro, take lessons and learn the fundementals of the proper swing, and then practice away.be patient it will take awhile..but ahh the fun ahead |

Just knowing that "you can do it " is a great start - you need a good attitude for starters. There are a few things to think about when it comes to the game of golf - keeping it a fun game is one of the most important! Get to know your clubs from lob, approach, sand, pitching, irons 3-9, hybrids and drivers - see which ones work for you. It doesn't matter if you have a Heinz 57 set - I once had a woman I used to play with ask me "Don't any of your clubs match "? I was 4+ on the back 9 and she was mentally trying to mess me up by asking me that (I ended up parring the 17th & 18th) and I never played with her again - why? because I didn't like her negative attitude - btw at that time, I had an old Callaway set of irons, TaylorMade driver, Bobby Jones Hybrid and a Walmart 4 wood - and I told her "Hey these are the clubs that I like to use - those clubs help me shoot consistently in the 80's - so you see, positive thoughts or happy thoughts is what I like to have on the course. You could also ask your local golf pro for a lesson or two to give you something to think about. Join a women's league too - most women just love it when someone asks them for advice - makes them feel...special. Practicing at the range is a must too. Warm up with your smaller clubs first before you take out the "big dog ". You should also try to maintain a routine fitness schedule to have better toning of your body core - this will definitely help with distance once you start to improve your game. You can also check different websites on the internet - just type in something like "how to play golf better ". See below - good luck! |

It's the hardest sport on earth in my opinion, I don't think any talent in this game just comes naturally, some guys are more physically suited for it, ala Tiger. But even he had to work hard to be as good as he is. Just practice |

Get lessons before u start to develop bad habits that can take over 2 years to correct...once u develop a repeatable swing, practice from ~150 yds in. and chipping and putting. those are key to shooting low. |

Good golf is easy, Take the afternoon off work Fill the cooler full of beer Select 3 fun friends Brag about the good shots, and learn to laugh about the bad ones Good golf for me is just having fun, After playing now for over a decade, I started playing near 130 a round to today the upper 70s. Shaving nearly half my strokes I realized that no matter how well I think I am playing, I will still get beat by someone on the course at that time. I have lost a few strokes, but still play just for fun Good golf to me is fun golf with good friends! |
