Pick Up Golf

Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable and refined swing will make you highly successful.

How can i learn to golf in one day?

Question: How can i learn to golf in one day?

I'm in mid- level management and my telecommunications company is in the final stages of a merger with another company. The final negotiations are set to follow (of all things) a game of golf tomorrow morning. I am supposed to tee off with both company presidents and one of the tech. specialists. I have never even swung a club before, and I've always been horrible at sports.

Get um drunk and hope they hit the ball as bad as you do, Golf is a game that is learned over time and alot of practice. It's addicting though so go out and have fun no matter how bad you are.

You are s.o.l. can't learn in one day, but grab a club and hit the driving range of your local club, take a lesson... good luck, you'll need it!!!

I've seen people do decent on their first outing. You're not going to fool anyone, so don't try, but here are some basic thoughts that may help you not embarass yourself too much: 1. Don't swing hard - swing naturally. Swinging hard just imparts spin on the ball. Think of swinging with "tempo " 1-2-3 like a dance step, backswing, downswing, follow-through. Smooth is what you want. 2. Shift your weight. Think of the wieght shift in your swing like you were being passed a heavy ball from someone behind you, and you were passing it to someone in front. Use a balanced, natural motion and don't overdo it. 3. Keep your eye on the ball. Focus on the ball - before, during and after the swing. Don't look at the result until well into the follow-through when your motion naturally brings your head up. Think of swinging well, not what you want to get accomplished. Also, think positive. Don't think of the hazards you want to avoid or what you don't want to do - try to envision a positive result every time. Good luck

Learn in one day? Or you only have one day to learn? Your best bet to learn in one day is to go to the best PGA pro in your area and share your dilemma. If you only have one day, get to the range and see how you do. If you think you will embarrass yourself, suggest just playing a "scramble " with one of the other players. That would be where you hit from where your parner's shot is and not have to chase your duffs all over the course causing backups and headaches.
