Pick Up Golf
Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time
perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for
golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a
terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable
and refined swing will make you highly successful.

It is always better to start on a range than the golf course for several reasons. First and most important, if you get frustrated on the range, you can just walk away and it only affect you. If you get frustrated on the course you have paid alot of money to just walk off, and the people behind you and with you will be affected. I would suggest working on a swing for about a half hour at a time untill you feel comfortable hitting shots consistantly, then play a round of golf. |

No matter if you are just learning or have been playing for years it is important to put lots of time on the driving range. For a beginner it gives you a chance to hit a multitude of balls to get the feel of the club. If you can set a camera up across from you and film yourself while hitting and make a comment after each hit on how the ball did you can then look at the tape later to see how you swung when the ball was hit well and how you hit it when you didn't. I do recommend that if you want to learn to play golf then get some lessons from your local pro and apply those lessons at the range. |

Best to take someone with you who understands the basics of a proper golf swing. its best to learn the correct way first instead of praticing bad habits. |

The best way to become proficient at this game called Golf is to take lessons and hit thousands of balls at the range. Once you can hit all of the clubs with a positive consistency. Then head to the course. Most people don't do it this way and it leads to a lot of issues. There isn't much else more frustrating than having to wait behind golfers who can't hit the ball out of there shadow and take an extremely long time trying to figure out how to swing. By the time you go the golf course you shouldn't have to think of anything mechanical. Picture the shot over and over in your minds eye and let it happen. That's the game of golf. |

Of course. If you want to improve your technique and swing it is a must. Even Tiger Woods needs to practise in the driving range for 2 hours everyday in order to impove his technique. |

The PGA has been testing some new programs for beginner golfers the past 5 years. They came up with two great programs that you can find under the playgolfamerica.com website. The programs names are First Swing and Link Up 2 Golf. These programs teach you everything you need to know from the time you pull up in the parking lot until you go home in a fun no pressure way. You do not need any equipment and will know how to pick out a set of clubs when it's over. The cost should be in the $99 to $149. range. You will get 5 or 6 hours of golf instruction and at least 3 on the golf course trips plus a little 4 or 5 hole graduation event. All you do is go to the website enter your zip code to find the golf course in your area that offers it. |

I read and watched lots of books and movies on great golfers. Just last night in HBO a story about Bobby Jones. There was a scene when he was hitting shots after shots into a garbage can, and the next scene was he is already a grown up hitting the same shots. Jack Nicklaus also hit hundreds and hundreds of shots in the driving range rain or shine. Tiger hit million of shots in his dad's garage. But yes best way is to go the range and find a good pro. There are much more in golf than hitting the balls. Golfer should also learn golf ethics so they wouldn't go hitting the front group in the head and also learn rules of golf. |
