Pick Up Golf

Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable and refined swing will make you highly successful.

Putt! more then half of your golf score is on the green, if you become a better putter your scores will drop. 75% of your practice should be putting! Good Luck! :)

Research some teaching pros in your area and find one that you're comfortable with. After only 10 months it's unlikely that you've developed any bad habits or at least haven't ingrained them to a great extent. Lessons are the best thing you can do for your game. If you are really serious, after seeing a pro have your swing analyzed and get fitted for clubs.

Yes i agree, you should always work on ur short game learn to shorten ur back swing on both puttts and chip shots. Dont bring the club higher than ur knees whenyou chip around the green. you can also buy a hitting net and hit balls indoors. the long game is all about practice, but once you learn and get used to a swing you will remember it forever. So swing the club alot. swing it everyday and withing a year you should be shooting in the 80s and 90s. Any lower will require you to have a world class short game where you are a chipping and putting machine, and hardly miss a shot. you dont need distance to shoot par. so always try to just make the best swing you can to get the best contact. If you need any help with ur technique, i recommend that you ask or watch a pro. You can also buy a book about golf. I learned from a book that Fred Couples wrote it really helped me out. oh and what ever you do make sure to always turn ur hips b4 you even think about moving ur arms on the downswing. Thats the key to gettng distance, using ur entire body and very little arms.

Hi I'm a golf professional and the main thing is patient. I know it's a poor answer but it's true. I started playing 12 years ago and I couldn't hit the ball at all. Then I got hooked and loved it. Now it's my career. I see a lot of people who quit after a year or two but really they are just beginning. Set realistic goals, write them down and record your results. Simplify. Get a lesson and take one or two really simple points and work on them every day. Practice swing in your back yard and go to the driving range. If you practice the right things for 2 hours a week it's way more effective than practicing the wring things for 20 hours a week. Poor practice engraves bad habits! The better you get at golf the more respect you'll get with your clients so work on it and it will pay off some day. Hope I could help. Marcus,

It sometimes does take a while to improve your golf game. you can take lessons from the club pro down at course or a golf shop. or find some online instruction, it is much cheaper & very helpful. tips-n-reviews.com/ has a solid golf section full of online instruction. once you find your swing it feels great. try changing your grip, either where you hold the club at or how you hold the club, sometimes going to the driving range and trying different grips is the best way to find your swing

Read some techniques on how to play golf, watch the previous golf tournament of famous golfer and read some books then practice what you have learned...don't be shy if someone is watching you...remember that golf is a social game

Now that you have developed a golf swing, such as it may be, this is a time to take a series of lessons from a good teaching pro. He will take that basic swing, develop the better segments and improve the elements which require fixing. You will also learn what to do . Then when you wander from the pattern you can self correct.
