Pick Up Golf
Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time
perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for
golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a
terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable
and refined swing will make you highly successful.

Question: Golf tip: how to fix my slice on my drive.?
(Posted by: Colten s on 2009-07-03 09:35:03)
To start off my main sport is baseball, golf is just a weekend hobby i've been doing for the past ten or so years. I always can hit my irons great and straight when I go out but I always slice my drive. any tips? I've tried playing the ball back in my stance, foward in my stance, tighter grip, nothing seems to work. My driver shaft is a normal flex does that have anything to do with it? |

You probably have a few baseball tendencies stuck in your head. First, you need to loosen your grip, on a scale of 1-10 you want to hold a driver at about a 4. Then you want to make sure from your driving stance, you can see the first 2 knuckles on your top hand. Most importantly, you are probably suffering from an out to in swing, to prevent that, drop your back shoulder a bit, keep it tight. Lastly, just swing 5 times softer than you think you should, remember, the golf club is an extension to your body. Good luck |

Close your club head. |

Baseball could be the problem. i play baseball and golf and you have to get the baseball swing out of your drive. usually its because your take back is coming outside and you don't bring your hands in on the follow through. closing your driver head will make you hook the ball. |

Make sure your bottom hand stays locked in the grip. If your bottom hand slides during the back swing or downswing, the club face will open, resulting in a slice. |

I have the exact same problem but have recently done better off the tee. Before if i used my driver on 12 holes i would slice on 10 of the 12. Im still working on it but i make sure my shoulders are pointing where i am aiming and not to the left. Play the ball up and on the inside of your left foot and keep your arms fully extended.Take your normal swing and most of all practice. Now i am hitting 9 out of 12 fairways. still practicing it too. |

Make sure you swing through after impact, rotate your left elbow so that it points down at the ground when your hands reach waist height in your follow-through. This kind of elbow rotation allows your right hand to properly turn past your left. This will adjust your tendency to slice.
