The accepted norm for a pro caddie is 10% of the pro's winnings. Out of that you pay for your own expenses including travel and accommodation. So you need to caddie for the right golfer to make a decent living. |

If you get a good player, you can make a lot of money. A caddie's earnings are contingent upon the players earnings. |

If the 10% rule is true, Tiger's caddie made a lot of money in recent years then. He probably made more in one tournament than I did in a year. All he has to do is keep track of Tiger's clubs and strokes. |

Its usually 10% plus some bonuses when the player does really well.....Many caddies are real friends with the player, so u get a lot of extra stuff like, clothes, equipment, hotel rooms, food, it really depends... But fact is the better the player, the better the caddie is doing. |

The general rule on the PGA tour is ten percent, unless your name is Steve williams(tiger woods' caddy). Steve, the biggest jerk on tour, player or caddy, gets 12 percent and his travel and accomadations paid. New caddies often take advantage of a flat rate/ percentage option. Since new caddies generally are not with the best players, they have less opportunity to earn from winnings, thus the flat rate option. If you are asking about club caddies, a rarity these days, the rate varies greatly. The best paid club caddies in know of would be Sherwood Country Club in Westlake Village, CA, I am excluding Augusta as I doubt many of us will be playing or working there any time soon. I would put the range for a loop for todays caddies between 50 and 200 each. A good caddy can do three loops per day, no caddy should do less than two at a busy club. I believe I am getting nostalgic as I write this...i liked caddying as a kid....ten bucks a loop. Noonan! |
