Pick Up Golf
Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time
perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for
golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a
terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable
and refined swing will make you highly successful.

If you're not anxious about it, you should be worried. |

Focus on your pre-shot routine. Not only is it a trigger to get your swing started, it's also good at giving you "tunnel vision "- where the only thing that matters is the shot at hand. |

It is completely natural to feel a bit scared at that point. After the game begins, you will most likely feel a lot more confident again.. Hopefully it all goes well for you, best of luck to you! - William |

It's normal to be anxious.. Try to embrace it as positive energy.. I'm a plus player and I am anxious whenever I tee it up, even social rounds. But it passes as soon as I tee off and get into the round.. A couple of things I try to keep in mind when I play a competitive round are: Scared and nervous are two different things. Next, I CHOSE to be here because I love the game and I love to compete, especially on a high level. Nobody forced me to be here right? Pressure is self imposed you do it to yourself so try not to do it to yourself!!! Remember that the other guy is feeling the same thing as you are and he is no better than you, but on any given day, anyone can win. It's all fun so try to enjoy it while you can!!!!! |

Im a freshman and i had my first matches this year(and im the only girl and since there is no girls team I had to play with the boys and it wasn't very fun at first) but I got so nervous before i played in the matches I always played 10 times worse than I did at practice, so you need to remember that if you get all worked up before the matches you might screw up your first few shots, and that then makes you mad and once you get mad you play bad your whole round and basically just give up. So just stay as calm as possible and just think of something else before the match. Also maybe this summer you should play in some jr tournaments or something to help you get used to playing competitively, that's what im doing to help with my nerves. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!!!! |

Once you hit it staight down the first fairway youll feel confident and relaxed. Focus on that first shot. |
