Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable and refined swing will make you highly successful.

First off, are you referring to driver or irons? If you think about it, your irons are intended to provide spin on the ball and an impact angle. If you are going to put something on the club that will diminish the amount of friction applied by the grooves of the club, you will impart less spin on the ball. On a club like a 60degree lob wedge, you would impart less spin and probably hit much less of a distance as the ball may tend to slide over the face, rather than make proper impact. On a driver however, since top spin or backspin can reduce distance, it may work but you'd probably end up hitting uncontrollable knuckleballs. Not a benefit in my opinion. This is all speculation in my opinion as I have never tried it. However, as a rule of physics and the conservation of energy, when you transfer engery from one object in motion to one at rest, the amount of friction between the two in this case will help to determine how much energy is transfered. If you reduce the amount of friction at certain applied angles, you will not transfer as much energy from the club to the ball. Although for real world answers...go try it out...just don't aim in the general direction of anything living or expensive! : )

No, but if you put it on the grips, it will make the clubs go farther.

To be succinct.....No......this may very well fall under the category of an old wives tale or urban legend at the least.

It would be against the rules of golf. Rule 4-2b "Foreign material must not be applied to the club face for the purpose of influencing the movement of the ball ".

Yes it will. the reason for this the lubricant will cause less side spin this will reduce the slice action on the ball. a straighter shot will go further than a slice shot. w d 40 is okay. the best is still vaseline. highly illegal. but it does work. possibly try a lesson, or even cheaper just use your three wood. your score will improve, your finances will improve due to more skins. no more lost golf balls. to many players use drivers when their scores would drop by using 3 wood. due to age dumped driver added fifth wedge 4 seasons ago. handicap went down, even though suffering from serious health problem.
