Pick Up Golf
Many people when they are beginning to pick up golf spend more time
perfecting their golf swing than discovering any other single skill for
golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a
terrible golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a stable
and refined swing will make you highly successful.
Question: Looking for a good golf swing book?
(Posted by: Brian K on 2009-04-21 05:09:57)
I am looking for a recommendation on a good fundamental swing book. Something that is clear and to the point. I have the Hardy books, and I was not impressed. Seemed a little "gimmicky " to me, as does the stack and tilt method. I used to have Hogans Five Lessons but let someone borrow it and never saw it again. It has been so long since I read it that I cannot recall the teachings. I was contemplating purchasing it again, but figured I would ask for some recommendations first. Thanks.

"Practical Golf " Clear - indeed, practical - golf advice from one of the great teachers, John Jacobs. "Practical Golf " goes into such things as developing a consistent swing, improving the mental approach, playing from rough, curing a slice and adding distance.

Hogan's book holds up today. Very well. A couple others: Golf My Way, by Jack Nicklaus. When you consider that this Eldrick fellow read it as a young lad, as did Greg Norman...maybe there's something there. Little Red/ Green Book, by Harvey Penick. Mostly a bunch of short stories tied to lessons. Worth reading.

Hi - One of the simplest and best books I've come across is "Concept Golf " by John Toepel. He breaks the swing into a couple basic and important principles. It has had an amazing impact on a number of golfers (including myself). We were such big fans that we spoke to John and he agreed to let us put an overview on our website (MyScorecard.com). You can go to the Knowledge Center from our home page and take a read through. I've placed a direct link below. Regards, Jack
